Wait? That’s IT?!

Yes and no! As of the end of 2020 I had begun re-writing Die Erste Liebe into its current form Painted Skies, a combination of the written sequel and the existing webcomic. Currently the script is in its second draft and I’ve begun the thumbnailing process for issue 1. With a new stylistic approach, this rendition of the comic will take a far longer time, but will be far more insightful, deep and the art will be of a caliber I will be proud of.

But if you hate me and want to know how this version ends, read below.

With Akio gone things have drastically changed.

Upon Akio’s demise, Izmayre rushes out of hiding to help save the kids from Mammon. After successfully defeating it and Makenshi’s facade falling apart in his face, an unexpected guest appears: Night’s father, Death. With Akio gone he cannot risk Night alone on the surface world and takes her back to Tartarus. A heartbroken Makenshi and Izmayre return to Spiraling, Alastor in tow as a hostage.

The Gods attempt to determine Night’s fate, not eager to have such a young girl among their ranks. As they fight and Night is left imprisoned, her mother returns and kidnaps her.

In order to have one last battle with Queen Altima, Afina plans to turn Night into a weapon.

While things come to a head…

Makenshi is sulking, depressed that Night is no longer with him. After days of withdrawal, he’s encouraged by Izmayre to be the hero he always wished he could be and goes down to Tartarus to save her.

But by the time Makenshi arrives, he’s too late. Night is gone and there’s only Death, eager to take advantage of the kid. He tells Makenshi the only way to stop the war and to save Night would be to kill her.

The ultimate price to pay for becoming the hero he had so desperately wished to be.

This ending was left vague and unfinished on purpose as it’s not the true ending. Simply the direction this webcomic was going to go in.

So what happens now?

Sadly it’s the waiting game now! Making a comic takes a lot of time/effort/energy and patience, and working full time as a tattooer on top of that is also exhausting! In the meantime my goal is to update my blog with comic process as well as some of my more personal thoughts and musings with my creative process and world/character building. If you’ve read the comic and enjoy it I promise you, this reboot will be worth the wait.

Thanks for choosing to enter my world for a little bit.
